Overview

Bhimbandh Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled in the picturesque hills of Banka district, spans an area of approximately 682 km². Established in 1976, it is named after the Bhimbandh waterfall and is known for its rolling grasslands, dense Sal and mixed deciduous forests, and crystal-clear lakes. This sanctuary serves as a crucial habitat for the endangered Indian bison (Gaur), among other rare species. Birdwatchers flock here for sightings of the Bengal Florican and other migratory species. The surrounding hills offer trekking trails and viewpoints overlooking serene valleys.
