About East Champaran

East Champaran, also known as Motihari district, is a remarkable region in northern Bihar famous for its historic connection to Mahatma Gandhi's first Satyagraha in India. With the Himalayan foothills to the north and fertile plains along the Gandak River, the district is a blend of rich agriculture, culture, and colonial heritage.

Established as a separate district in 1972 (earlier part of Champaran), East Champaran shares its border with Nepal, making it a significant cross-border region. Motihari is the district headquarters and the heart of all administrative and tourism activities.
